Harmonized Soil Database of Ecuador (HESD): data from 2009 to 2015

Abstract. One of the largest challenges with soil information around world is how to harmonize archived data from different sources and make it accessible scientist. In Ecuador, there have been two major projects that provided information, but methodology these projects, although comparable, did not coincide, especially respect was reported. Here, we present a new database for comprising 13 542 profiles 51 713 measured horizons, including 92 edaphic variables. The original were in non-editable format (i.e., PDF), which made difficult access process information. Our study provides an integrated framework combines multiple analytic tools automatically converting legacy analog into usable digital mapping inputs across Ecuador. This allowed us incorporate quantitative on broad set properties retrieve qualitative morphological collected profile description phase, rarely included databases.
